"Treehouse Jams" (Muteant Sounds), "Klanglandschaft-Fabrik" (Snow in Water Records), and "Zoneout" (Off).

For 2024 I have secured three brand new album releases on three amazing labels.

"Treehouse Jams" is coming to Muteant Sounds in April.

It's my third release for this label.

Please check out the previous releases at:
Tribal Messengers | Adam Majdecki-Janicki | Muteant Sounds (net label) (bandcamp.com)
Pastel Goddess | Adam Majdecki-Janicki | Muteant Sounds (net label) (bandcamp.com)

"Klanglandschaft-Fabrik" is coming to Snow in Water Records in June.

My long cooperation with Nicolas Tourney and his label brings another experimental ambient fruit, that will surely appeal to fans of "Eimi" and "Chemins".

Finally, "Zoneout" is coming to the Belgian record label Off in November. It's my first release for this label and I am really excited.

"The Poznań" Mini-Album Released Today!

New Year, new mini-album - "The Poznań" is really personal and autobiographical. In the lyrics I sing about my grandpa, football, drugs, alcohol, women, Ireland, Poznań (the town where I was born)... and I look back at my favorite songs and mix them with brand new songs.

The album is really short, clocking in at 25:07. It's shorter than my latest mini-album, "Bavarian Gypsy" (Father and Son Records and Tapes, 2020).

It is probably my last release with conventional songs, as I got tired of the verse/chorus/verse structure. Or no chorus at all, as is often the case with Bob Dylan songs. Or Leonard Cohen. Or Lee Hazlewood. Or many of my older tunes.

I will soon release "Neon Nocturnes" on the German netlabel Engram Recordings - this one will be purely instrumental synthesizer music in the vein of New Age and space ambient.

What's next for me? Let's see what the crazy Father Time brings. Have a happy 2024 and thank you for buying my records.

Neon Nocturnes / Treehouse Jams

As the year comes to its end I find myself working on two new works - one is a set of ambient synth soundscapes "Neon Nocturnes". These improvisations are drone / New Age based and are both for meditation and active listening. I started working on them after listening to Igor Stravinsky in the record store where I currently work. So, there will also be classical music influences audible. But, the work won't be classical, and obviously I haven't forgotten about my noise / experimental roots when it comes to electronic music. You can listen to parts 1-6 on SoundCloud, and the project will be released soon. The idea is to fill the other half of the album with non-related pieces, abstract, and free form.

The other project is free rock-based improvs for electric guitar, bass guitar, and drum machine. It's called Treehouse Jams quite loosely, and I am not sure if those pieces will be released on an album. It all depends on the quality and quantity of them. I released many rock-based improv albums before, so I am not sure if there is need for another one. But I really enjoy playing around with the new drum machine, and playing my guitars. So, here is to a happy creative 2024 - the sound research at Via Kosmische goes on! Here is the Treehouse jam, and below a link to order my vinyl LP from Herby Records.

Adam Majdecki-Janicki | Adam Majdecki-Janicki | Herby Records (bandcamp.com)

Adam Majdecki-Janicki, better known as A.J. Kaufmann, is a poet, songwriter and musician residing in Poznan, Poland. He is one of the most important figures in the Wielkopolska underground, an artist associated mainly with the independent scene. His musical activity should be of particular interest to fans of psychedelic music. He is the author of several dozen albums, released physically and digitally. Outside the country, the artist successfully debuted with the well-received collection of poetry entitled "Siva in Rags", published in 2008. Important achievements in his output are also the first album released on CD and vinyl "Second Hand Man" from 2011, as well as the album "Stoned Gypsy Wanderer" in 2014.

2004

In the annals of lost music, the 2004 demo by A.J. Kaufmann stands as a testament to raw, unbridled creativity and a mind teetering on the edge of madness. Recorded in the depths of a dimly lit basement, the demo is a sonic tapestry woven from the threads of Erich von Daniken's ancient astronaut theories, William Blake's hallucinatory poetry, and Sergius Golowin's mystical philosophy.

The demo's sound is a haunting blend of electric guitars, out of tune vocals, and ethereal soundscapes, as if the very essence of the universe is being poured into each note. Kaufmann's voice, raw and impassioned, carries the listener on a journey through cosmic realms and ancient civilizations, where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur into a mesmerizing vortex.

The lyrics, a patchwork of cryptic symbols and esoteric references, paint vivid pictures of alien encounters, forgotten rituals, and the hidden wisdom of the past. Kaufmann's words echo the feverish intensity of Blake's poetry, while the demo's soundscapes evoke the cosmic expanse of Golowin's writings.

The demo's overall aura is one of intimacy, as if the listener is being invited into Kaufmann's own personal world of cosmic exploration and philosophical musings. The music is unpolished and raw, but it's also utterly mesmerizing, a testament to the power of creativity and the boundless depths of the human imagination.

Sadly, the demo remains lost to the sands of time, its existence confined to whispers and rumors among a small circle of enthusiasts. But its legacy lives on in the echoes of its haunting melodies and the lingering images conjured by its cryptic lyrics. The lost demo by A.J. Kaufmann is a reminder that music can transcend boundaries and transport us to places beyond our wildest dreams.

Recorded in 2004, "Waiting in the Wings" is a remarkable piece of music that deserves to be heard by a wider audience. It's a haunting and beautiful exploration of loneliness, alienation, and the power of music to connect with one's deepest emotions.

A.J. Kaufmann's 2004 album ...and Like Mad Distant Planets We Crumble is a dark and introspective exploration of alienation, loss, and the disintegration of the self. Recorded after his return from Berlin, the album reflects Kaufmann's experiences living in a foreign city and his struggles to find meaning and purpose in his life. The music is characterized by its sparse arrangements, distorted guitars, and Kaufmann's haunting vocals, which often sound like a desperate plea for connection and understanding.

THE POZNAŃ coming January 1st 2024.

In 2020 or 2021, Father & Son Records & Tapes from Łobez, Poland, released my mini-album "Bavarian Gypsy". It had 8 tracks and was just over 26 minutes long. I wouldn't call it an EP, especially considering the length of some "full albums" released in the 50s or 60s, or even 70s.

I was fighting with the idea of a new full album for 2024, but figured out there's no need to over-talk and overload the idea.

So, "The Poznań", will eventually become a mini-album at 8 tracks and 25 minutes of music.

I will release it on my bandcamp page.

Thank you for 25 years of support.

The Exit

Who bought the cross, who sold the law
Who wrote the book, who let us go
Who gave a promise, who built a wall
Who came in peace, who came unsure
Who was the first here
Who’ll be the last
Who came in war
Who came in jazz
Who’ll see the exit
See the end

Who made the bricks, who built the well
Who stoned the church, came up with hell
Who was the drifter, what was the trip
Who came too far, who went too deep
Who was the junkie
Who played the drug
Where will it take us
When will it stop
Who’ll see the exit
The suffering lot

Who turned the page, who took the load
Who died for love, who was never born
Who took the gaspipe, who took the rope
Who questioned yes to answer no
Who was the sailor
On which fake boat
Who ran for faith
Came up with gold
Who’ll see the exit
The end alone

W CISZY PORANNEGO WSCHODU SŁOŃCA

Siedziałem na wydmie i paliłem jointa z uroczą panią światła u mego boku. Wszyscy chłopcy nazywali ją Porannym Wschodem Słońca i do dziś zastanawiam się dlaczego. Jej palce były pomalowane na różowo. Miała pastelowy naszyjnik wokół włosów. Świecił jak słońce we wszystkich kierunkach. Rozrzucał popiół i lód po całej dolinie niewinnego światła.

Wszyscy moi przyjaciele nazywali ją Porannym Wschodem Słońca i nadal nie mogę znaleźć powodu, ale wstała wcześnie rano, poszła na zakupy do centrum. Kupiła jakieś fajne buty i przystojne kapelusze na jej piękną głowę, która zawierała całą esencję niewinnej miłości pani jeziora, jak ją nazywali poeci jeszcze w dniu wojny.

Jako dziecko słyszałem historie o ludziach z kosmosu. Inwazja planet. Odbieranie życia niewinnym mężczyznom i kobietom.

25 years of madness - the LP.

The news is finally here. After 25 years of artistic work I will have my debut vinyl released in Texas, USA, by the most incredible label - Herby Records.

Herby has supported various projects of mine, including the STONED GYPSY WANDERER 2 vinyl release in 2020, NEANDERTHALMEN EP "Powitanie Lucyfera" in 2021, and the CHICA NARCOTICA LP in 2022.

All of those releases are kindly credited not only to HERBY RECORDS, but also to VIA KOSMISCHE, my home studio in which most of my recordings were made across the years.

I can't believe it all started in 1998 with a simple cassette recorder, shaky teenage voice, and a classical guitar.

“Kaufmann is a folk troubadour, minstrel and a harbinger of new sounds and thought. There is a theme that runs through this body of work, a method to his madness. All of these songs are a journey. So take the trip and give a listen. Nobody knows it but AJ Kaufmann is a national treasure of Poland.”

by David Bixby, Harbinger Magazine

To those in-the-know, Mr. Dave Bixby is certainly a Hero. So, to be called a national treasure by him is the greatest honor I can imagine.

I always worked hard, and never stopped making music, noise, writing poetry, composing, improvising, writing song lyrics, even against the hardest currents of Life.
I worked alone for 4 years, then in 2002 I started working with Mateusz Nowicki, 10 years later (2012) with Kacper Wojaczek, and another 10 years later (2022) with Leszek Garstka.

I never enjoyed big ensembles, groups, the noise around rock'n'roll. Although I've always been a fan of Hawkwind, Amon Duul, Gong, Magma, Nektar... the list goes on.

In 2015 I met the mighty Amon Duul II in London. It was a life-changing experience, and I will be eternally grateful to Renate Knaup who invited me backstage after the London gig. I met everyone, talked to everyone, got to know what makes music important, and understood why some things grow fast, and sick, and some things grow slow, and strong and healthy...

SO FINALLY, after 25 years that most of my friends think I spent smoking ganja and drinking beer, not working hard in my home studio, my debut vinyl as ADAM MAJDECKI-JANICKI (self-titled, too) is coming to HERBY RECORDS December 9th. Right now you can buy the super limited 7" single ANITA PALLENBERG / HOTTHOUSE FOR ORCHIDS.

"Little Beata" (22.10.2023).

She talks to planets she created sighing
Slow fantastic oceans
Creator's secret masterplan
Suns she gave fuel to evaporating
Growing into land
She's the great galactic trip-in
Deep mystery of life cycles
But I call her Little Beata
Bride of the albatross
Seventh sister of heaven
Green and red, she's an Irish head
Used to be blonde
But then she changed the weather
Will she conquer the facts
Or let them slide out of hand
Down the eternal wave of death...
